The Forest Keeper

At the edge of the meadow, in a house like every other, lived a fairy named River. River had a loving family that worked hard to please the Forest Keeper, but she started to feel unhappy.

When she was younger, she had lots of friends, but as time went on, she started to look and feel different from the other fairies. The more different she looked, the more she felt left out and alone.

One day, when she was gathering flowers to make perfume, she heard a sound coming from deep in the woods. It sounded like humming and chanting, like the birds singing or the crickets chirping at night.

She started walking past their village and towards the woods as the sun began to fall. Her heart beat faster with every step, not knowing where she was going, but she knew she couldn’t go back.

Then, again she heard the chanting and singing, like birds and crickets, but deeper. In the distance, she saw a glimmering light, and dark shadowy creatures singing and dancing about.
